Will WolframAlpha Crash Later or Amaze Us Beyond Google?
Yes! After I have been waiting for this launch, my fingers are shaking, trembling, and I can’t wait to use them when I get a hold of WolframAlpha and let’s see if it pushes G out of it’s spot as the one of the top search engines. For a long time, my typing fingers has always sought after the G spot since it gives more relevant information than Yahoo and MSN/Live.
If you are not familiar with WolframAlpha, check this out.
Just so much power, I feel I am facing StarTrek Technology, talking to a computer giving me pertinent answers. Click to continue »

I decided to test for some time the plugin Twitter Tools. Aside from posting on twitter your latest blog post, it also post on your blog your latest tweets! First impression it is cool, actually it really is. Problem was I tweet more often than I blog. Click to continue »

I joined the SEO World Championship by Get Updated last year. This so called annual SEO contest that started in January 15, 2007 and I was waiting for this annual event in 2008 which just did not seem to come. With my best effort to look for the next best SEO Contest, I ended up joining UK Webmaster World’s SEO Contest.
I won the SEO World Championship and won my SEO contest car, but for the UK Webmaster World contest, we still don’t know yet who really wins. This contest ends on April 1 and as much as I try to maintain my lead, I know Paul Sanches and Martin Svilenov, current number 2 and number 3 respectively are not stopping in trying to get the top spot.
But even if I won the SEO World Championship, my whole SEO strategy was completely different in these two contest. Click to continue »

I have heard this over and over by various bloggers and present day SEO experts. Although many oldschool SEO practitioners have a strong affinity in the belief that W3C validating, compliant HTML or XHTML and CSS helps a lot in the ranking algorithm. Now is there any truth to this? Click to continue »

As I am seeing more and more efforts by competitors like seocontest2008-sphere.com making more blog post by creating more Blogger accounts for more links from blogspot.com domains and seocontest.uk.com now using PPC which I am sure they probably know that PPC does not help organic ranking directly, but can generate traffic and hopefully invite more link bait possibilities as they both work on their last 15 day streak to get the number 1 spot on Google.com for SEOContest2008. These efforts give me jitters that prompts me to do my moves as well to maintain my position and hopefully does not make me come off my current ranking. Thus I decided to revive my top SEOContest2008 secret weapon! (shhhh, don’t tell anyone, it is a secret!) Click to continue »

I haven’t played that much with Google’s API yet since I never had the reason to do so. Kudos to all the competitors that start making their own powerful ranking scripts with all the historical data, good work! This just made me want to play around with the API too. Being an old school web designer/developer, and started SEO a bit early, I still have Google’s SOAP API key which they no longer release. Today what they run is the AJAX API. Although Google discontinued the SOAP API, they still support it to those that still have the key. And I decided to play around with mine. And all I did was a top 10 list of SEOContest2008 competitors on my side bar. Click to continue »

YicrosoftDirectory.biz and .info are already declaring the winners! I also participated in the Yicrosoft Directory SEO contest. And my entry was yicrosoftdirectory.org. Although I was not much concerned with it and at work, I was helping out train a colleague of mine by joining an SEO contest. His entry to Yicrosoft Directory was the .net domain. The significant difference of this contest to other contest is this is a 1 month only SEO contest.
And right now, if you do a search on the ranking in Google datacenters. Click to continue »
